A Bathing Ape History  

A Bathing Ape was founded in 1993, by Nigo and was one of the first Japanese urban brands. The clothing line known as "Bape" first started by making T-Shirts. The company started out of the Harajuku area of Shibuya in Tokyo and later became one of the most popular brands in the world.

The famous logos and themes come from the movie "Planet of the Apes". The name comes from a very popular Japanese saying "bathing in lukewarm water" which shows how Japan’s youth will follow popular trends. Before Nigo had his company he worked for a very popular Japanese magazine "Boon" , which was geared to urban trends.

Now Bape makes shoes (Bapesta), jeans, hats, belts and more. They even have limited edition toys that many people in the "Shoe Game" like to collect. Nigo not only owns a clothing line, he also has a record label Ape Sounds, Bape TV, Bape Café, Bape Gallery, and Bape Cuts. With all his success his shops are still very exclusive and you can’t find them everywhere like other shops. Nigo opened the first store in the US in New York 2004.

Nigo also hooked up with Pharrell to help him design his Reebok line "Ice Creams" and his Billionaire Boys Club clothing line, and the rest is history. Nigo has come along way and hard work ALWAYS pays off at the end. He can be seen in the most expensive cars money can buy or you might catch him smiling often showing off his icy diamond grill.

He lives in one of Tokyo’s finest areas "Roppongi Hills" in a house worth $30 million......YES $30 MILLION. Nigo and his company, A Bathing Ape takes the "Shoe Game" to another level. You can see Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Young Jeezy, and many others rocking the highly sought after "A Bathing Ape Collection". A Bathing Ape is very expensive, but sometimes in life you gotta spend lots of money to be in style.
